International Historic Motoring Awards: Thursday 20th November 2014
3D Engineers International Award Finalist
At a lavish award ceremony in London last night, 20.11.2014, Dorset company 3D Engineers was delighted to be recognised by the International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA) with its shortlisting for finalist in the Specialist of the Year Award for its niche abilities using leading emerging technology in vehicle preservation, creation and documentation. The awards are judged by an influential, high profile and high achieving set of international judges, drawn from the motoring world.
Three years ago in 2011, 3D Engineers was accredited internationally with the Innovation of the Year award at the inaugural IHMA gala evening. On the back of that, several high profile projects and sheer hard work, owner, Stuart Brown, has worked ceaselessly and tirelessly to build his business both in the UK and across the world.
The IHMA, with the aim of ‘Celebrating the best of the best in the international historic motoring world’, is now widely acknowledged to recognise and celebrate the skills and achievements of the worldwide historic motoring industry. 3D Engineers’ work embraces historic motoring at its core, preserving it for years to come through laser 3D scan and immersive 3D photo recording, recreating its successes by bringing new life to old designs using computer aided design (CAD) techniques and reverse engineering, and finally creating new designs with historic design influences for the enthusiasts of today to build and drive.
“Recent innovations in technology have again been invested in by 3D Engineers,” enthuses Stuart, “enabling us to leverage our growing specialist corner of the motoring world up to another level. We must be in good company as several other projects and people with whom we have been involved were also present as finalists at the award ceremony: shortlisted for awards in, amongst others, Car of the Year (Shelby Daytona Coupe CSX 2287), which won in its category, the Simeone Foundation Museum and Haynes International Motor Museum, also the winner, in Museum or Collection of the Year, Mark Gessler and Andrew and Lawrence Whittaker in Personal Achievement of the Year and even RS panels in the same category as us, Specialist of the Year. Congratulations to those who won. We are honoured to be chosen on the world stage as one of these and other high calibre finalists.
