1913 Renault DQ 40/45CV

Renault Type DQ 40/45Cv (1913) – Body design

This pre World War I Renault is one of our favourite projects. The client is great. The car is great. The design is by popular opinion spot on. The work required virtually every tool in our technological armoury involving advanced CAD, 3D scanning, scanning in sub zero temperature (not easy for most scanners), working in the “field” with no power available and combining programme plug-ins that we mixed an

Bentley Continental style body designed by 3D Engineers

Bentley R-Type – Continental style body design & buck

The Bentley R-Type Continental is one of the few cars to genuinely deserve the label iconic. Production ran to the low hundreds and its style and sophistication have led to an an enormous increase in prices during recent years. However, even though you may not be able to afford an original car, the Bentley R-Type is still readily available and a chassis restoration and re-body is a financially viable proposition. Hav

Ballot 2LS – 3D scanning and body design

Design brief 3D Engineers was required to reconstruct the original car using contemporary photographs and 3D scanning to create a virtual body that could then be refined to match those period images. Critically the rear design of the vehicle was not known. This work was then to be used to re-create the car in reality. “I asked 3D Engineers to help me re-create the car’s original body, which had been removed in

A S Motorsport DBR

The Brief To start the project, 3D Engineers was recruited to scan an existing Aston Martin DBR2 replica and subtly manipulate the subsequent data to enable the creation of a vehicle with revised features. Once th

Jaguar XJ13 re-creation, buck design and 3D scanning

In 1971 the XJ13 famously crashed at MIRA suffering extensive damage. It was subsequently rebuilt with a revised specification. Over the years we have created both versions of the XJ13 in CAD and from this designed the bucks and bodies. Manufacture in aluminium subsequently occurred. Jaguar Magazine featured work we created on the front page of its magazine.

Hudson Super Six (1917)

Design brief Having acquired the chassis and running gear for this 1917 American racer, our client needed the body design to be re-created and asked us to achieve this goal. Prior to starting, we were given a number of pictures of the vehicle. A little known, but important, part of our work is that we are good at locating information previously unknown to the client. In this case, we managed to find a number of
