Stuart Brown, the founder of 3D Engineers, is well aware that he was given his first opportunity to look at classic vehicles in detail by the generosity of The Bugatti Trust, a charity which has as one of its prime objectives encouraging young people to take up a career in engineering.
Therefore, when Stuart found out that Derby University had been let down by a lecturer at short notice and consequently had no-one skilled to take on the role of teaching Computer Aided Design (CAD), he stepped in to help. For nine weeks Stuart lectured one day a week and, with the kind permission of The Bugatti Trust, has taught certain sections of the engineering foundation degree course using copies of the original 1924 Bugatti Type 35 plans. This is a true case of synergy between excellent draftsmanship 85 years ago and high technology today.
Stuart being one of the highest qualified and experienced Solidworks users in the country has benefited the University greatly and hopefully will lead to further collaborations between Derby University, 3D Engineers and The Bugatti Trust in the future.
